House on Nevis
so the deposit is wired.
i still haven’t seen photos, but Tessa is a regular renter to students and the location sounds pretty prime. here are the details:
- 2 bed/2 bath, kitchen, living room, study, laundry
- new furniture
- fenced/gated yard
- 5 min drive from school (and on the bus route)
- north end of the island (Newcastle) in a neighbourhood with other student houses
- convenience store across the street
- view of the ocean from the veranda(!)
views of the ocean also come with smells and sounds. i’ll take whatever i can get in that respect, including the stink, noise, and wind. even hurricanes.
the only drawbacks seem to be that it is close to the airport (noisy?) and on/near a main road (busy?). but i would have to live with that anywhere near campus anyway.
whee! so exciting! Jonathan has booked our tickets and we leave (with Maddy!) August 23rd.

don’t be worried about the airport noise. it’s not heathrow you’ll be living next to – i’m sure there aren’t too many takeoffs / landings during the day and only occasional ones at night.
we were staying in a hotel nextdoor to the airport on lanzarote. we’d been worried before we got there, but we ended up enjoying watching the planes land.
