A hole in the world

“Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.”
~ Edna St Vincent Millay

you scratch your bug bites. you tuck the sheets in under the mattress when you make the bed. you never check your voicemail messages. you read every manual and set of instructions ever made available in English. you don’t fight back. you never get out of bed first. you talk about the iPhone. you dream about the iPhone. you pay for pet insurance. you have a hollow leg filled up with patience. you don’t always read the books i recommend. you bring 3-foot Christmas trees in your carry-on airplane luggage.

i’m not sure if our differences are more obvious when we’re together or apart…

either way, i sure do miss you and all those different things you bring to my world.

“If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.”
~ Claudia Ghandi
