a med school blog

at home in the morning

those of you that have been around any incarnation of this site at any point in the last 7.5 years, know i am a fan of offline archiving. usually it’s a bi-annual event without much hoopla. i just archive, remove, and keep writing. voila. perfectly seamless to those following along daily.

however, i think my purging philosophical orientation has changed.

the last purge was shortly before i announced that i had been accepted to medical school in the Caribbean. since that milestone is a definite beginning of a rather major chapter in my life, i kinda don’t want to archive anything until the chapter is complete.

which means i’m just going to let the months of this med school journey add up in the sidebar until… well, residency? maybe even longer than that?

my main reason for offline purging in the past was the fact that i felt it let me write freer and truer and more personal stuff without the fear of being judged for it (by some random Google’r) down the road. we all grow and evolve and change and i didn’t want to be judged today for things that i said yesterday. however, i now think it’s important to maintain the integrity of those growths and changes along this remarkable journey.

i am changing. a LOT. every day. and i no longer want to sweep those changes under the carpet. i don’t want to forget who i was at the start of this journey because it’s an encouraging reminder of how far i’ve come.

also, since this WordPress template doesn’t support it, i wanted to ask if anyone ever scrolls to the bottom of the main page and wishes there was a “keep looking” or “earlier” link at the bottom? if so, i’ll try to add it. or ask my favourite web monkey if he’d like to earn a few extra bananas.

[EDIT: nevermind. the awesomest web monkey works fast when bananas are on the line.]

:) i think it is great that you have adjusted your philosophy based on where you are right now while still doing what is best for you, as it should be! xo
