time to hit the books. hard.

our dean is fond of saying that our 20 months on Nevis is like a jail sentence. every night is a block night and every weekend is a block weekend. i’ll be under pretty strict lock-and-key for the next 10 days at least. i’m always extra nervous about the first block exam because starting out strong makes a HUGE difference for the rest of the semester.

other things on my plate this term: i will be co-presidentinging MUA Students for Change with the current president and founder. she is in MED 5 and getting ready to leave the island in August. hopefully i will be able to carry on the great work she has started and even pick up the momentum a bit. there are so many wonderful opportunities for students to get involved in the Nevisian community off-campus and give back a little bit during our short time on the island.

also, i have been appointed Student Representative of the Curriculum Committee at MUA. i am super excited about this position which will essentially act as a liaison between the students and the faculty that make decisions about how to spend our time in the classroom. the position itself is brand new this term and should be challenging and, hopefully, immensely rewarding. more to come in a later post.

welcome to MED 3. apparently this is the semester i turn into Superwoman.

It’ll be busy stuff no doubt.. but getting involved always looks good on job applications. Good luck with the Microbiology, I can’t wait until you start talking about gram negative bacilli and stuff on here ;)

Wow! You really are an involved women! School, committees… I am sure you will do great things for Nevis and MUA! As for microbiology, I think it is so much fun to learn about those crazy little things people are so scared off, the bacteries!

    Have fun!

It’s SuperJen… you just need a new teeshirt with a big SJ on it now. Delegate if you can, apart from the studying and passing exams bit. Better do that yourself. ;)
