Roommates

he talks while i do the dishes

this little* guy lives in and around the tree right outside my kitchen window.  he’s pretty good company.  and i know he and all of his buddies (including the bats in the eaves that swoop out at dusk) keep our modest sanctuary relatively bug-free.  i like to watch him watching me out of the corner of his eye with his head cocked while i do the dishes or make coffee.

i don’t see many people when i’m in the middle of studying for exams, so i’m afraid he often gets the brunt of my whining bad moods.  and puts up with me without a twitch of annoyance.  i immensely appreciate the unconditional ear** that never even tries to offer unsolicited advice.

but lately i’ve noticed he’s started leaving fuzzy cockroach legs and bits of bodies along the window ledge.  and i need to figure out how to tell my roommate he is a disgusting slob who’s mother would be ashamed of the inconsiderate lazy bum she raised!

my old roommates used to leave dishes under their bed. is it weird to wonder which is worse: fuzzy legs or fuzzy dishes…?

*he’s actually rather large for the reptiles i see around here.  most aren’t much bigger than your little finger.

**aka: weird hole thingy in the side of his head.
