a med school blog

he’s never(!) been here before.

he’s mildly infatuated with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their red uniforms with wide brimmed hats and mighty steeds.

he’s learned all of the provinces and territories and their capital cities.

he’s endured laughter from his friends and family at the name “Regina” for the past week.

he arrives tonight at 8pm. so please excuse me if i’m online even less than i have been (like that’s possible – hah), but we have a lot more prairie sight-seeing to do.

So… he knows the capitals of the provinces, but does he know the capital of the country (without you helping or googling). I’m curious… ;)

welcome, welcome b. glad you’ve made it up. :)

Speaking of the RCMP I used to love that show Due South. Are Mounties really that polite? Hope Maddy gets on with Brandon.

  5. RAEB on December 28, 2008 4:35 am

We’re almost all that polite! Seriously.

And the capital is Toronto, isn’t it? ; )

Happy holidays and new year’s to everyone! Seems like ’tis the season for taking long trips.

I am happy you had a great holiday so far! I am sure Brandon fisrt visit to Canada will be awesome!

I just read Jammie Dodger comment about Due South! I loved that show to, particularly the dog, Diefenbaker!

    Have fun dear Jen!

Yes, as far as I know the capital of Canada is Toronto.
Also, I’ve never seen a mountie. How is it fair that some guy on his first trip to canada is going to see a mountie, and i’ve been here for 30 years and haven’t seen one?

  8. BCWB on December 29, 2008 1:16 pm

Still haven’t seen a mountie and I believe the national capital is Ottawa and that is without using google or Jen as she is downstairs : ) Am I correct? Canada has been fun thus far. I am excited to go up to Saskatoon tomorrow and see where Jen went to school for a bit. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Yes you are correct. However as a torontonian, it is my job to assume we are the centre of the world.
Anyway, glad to hear your trip is going well. I’ll be happy when you get to Ontario…see how us non-prairie folk live.

Sarah, you could be the capital of my world as long as I’m the Prime Minister. :)

Ottawa being the capital of Canada is like Canberra being the capital of Australia. Many think it’s the bigger Toronto, just like many think Sydney is Australia’s capital.

Oh well, blame Queen Victoria for choosing the “unruly logging town”.

  11. sarah on December 29, 2008 5:25 pm

I dunno Jammie…have you seen some of these prime ministers? I guess Tony Blair was ok…but the Canadian ones, forget it! I shudder at the thought.
I am also happy to report that i never thought Sydney was Australia’s capital.
