With Bose headphones to cancel out your crying baby

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
so, i have to check in at the Nevis Vance W. Amory airport around 8am on Friday and land at Regina International around 630pm on Saturday.
yes, that’s 34.5 hours.
while there are two stops along the way that promise to be highly entertaining, here is a list of the mind-numbing media i am bringing to keep my weary brain occupied and prevent me from going postal on fellow holiday travelers:
movies:
Happy Go Lucky
How to Lose Friends and Alienate People
Kung Fu Panda
The Duchess
podcasts:
Medical London Book of the Week (HUGE thanks to Tim!)
CBC Radio: White Coat, Black Art
American Academy of Neurology®
New England Journal of Medicine Audio Interview RSS feed
i’m also bringing a bunch of House, MD episodes to catch me up on this season. anything i’m missing? you’ll notice Grey’s Anatomy didn’t make the cut. i heard they brought Denny back and can’t bring myself to watch because everything sounds just plain weirdo-cuckoo now.
i’m not sure i entirely agree with Robert Louis Stevenson regarding this trip, but will be doing my best to make the most of the journey. seeing Jenn and Kayla will definitely go a long way to curing the security line blues.
i have a sneaking suspicion i’m starting to side more with Paul Theroux who said: “Travel is only glamorous in retrospect.”

Cool plane ‘n’ pilot shot! As one who hasn’t travelled very far for years now, I’ve almost forgotten how much hassle it can be.
Make sure you do some exercises in those 34.5 hours to stop DVT!

I can’t believe you weren’t stoked about Izzy having sex with a dead guy… Wait. That was weird and creepy :)

Have a good flight! I’ll be in Toronto on Saturday. I have begged my family to have my down jacket waiting for me.
I know, for someone who spent 4 winters on the Prairies, I’m a Caribbean wimp. Have a good break!

Sad to see you go, but very excited that you get to see Maddy and you get to come to Nebraska and I get to see Canada. Yet another adventure on our way through Med School!! I wish you safe travels and can’t wait to see you on the 16th!!! : )

Congratulation Jennifer! I just read in your short and sweet section that med 4 is over in 3 hours, but that you wrote that comment 4 hours ago, so you must be done now! Superdooper! Yé!!! I am so happy for you!
Oh yeah, it so so weird that Denny’s character is back from the dead! And it started a few weeks ago. I was hoping that Izzie’s “visions”, if i can put it that way, would go away pretty fast, but no! Denny’s always hanging around! Creepy! And he is even getting jealous… So funny.
I wish you an AMAZING holiday! Take care!

Congratulations on a successful MED 4. So happy for you. :)) Have a wonderful trip home and a fantastic time with Maddy. This is one well-earned vacation.

You’re meeting Kayla? Nice. :)
I agree that Theroux had it right, but I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Congrats on being done!! I’m so jealous, I still have three exams to write!
Good call on the Grey’s, Izzy’s psychotic breakdown or whatever she’s having is getting pretty weird.
I’m with Tim, make sure you get up and walk around as much as you can… wouldn’t want to have DVT ruining your holiday at home!
