THUMBS UP for birthdays

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

thanks for all of the birthday wishes! i had an awesome and utterly unforgettable day!

these are my new cousins. it was our first Husker game. you can’t see in this photo, but i had my own Blackshirts skull-and-crossbones cheek tattoo and a #20 Johnny Rodgers jersey on. i’ll have more to write about that little team called the Nebraska Bugeaters Cornhuskers and their small gathering of fans at Memorial Stadium, but suffice it to say for now…

that was the best birthday party ev-er.

i definitely want to pass along special thanks to:

> Mom & Dad B for the reversible Husker jacket. i can’t wait for fall to really get here so i can wear it to a game.

> Uncle Lodge for giving us his amazing 20-yard line seats. wow!

> sista’ Sara for breakfast and tattoos and the football-bracelet-that-i-almost-lost and post-game snacks and late-night giant TV highlights and a comfy bed to crash in.

> Aunt Nancy for the neat charm bracelet. my first 3 charms are an American and Canadian flag with a Nebraska double link in the middle.

> little Will for taking photos with my camera. what a steady hand!

> super-duper dog-sitter Amanda for ensuring i didn’t worry about Maddy for even one millisecond.

Brandon’s family is doing an amazing job of welcoming me as the new daughter and sister and niece. i’m really not used to this much attention and feel like a spoiled only child. is this what Brandon’s entire life was like?? is this what those 14 whole months were like before my even-cuter-than-me and ever-lovable little sister came along? sign me up and farm out my siblings to foster families!

especially Jameson. but only because he forgot it was my birthday and didn’t send me a text until, like, yesterday.

i didn’t think it was possible to be adopted into a family even more lovable and generous and un-dysfunctional than my own, but let the record show that i sure don’t mind being proven wrong.
