Step 2 BOOKED

Well, I’m having a minor heart attack, but Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) and Clinical Knowledge (CK) are now booked.
My original plan was to take CS sometime in early May and CK later that month. But by the time my name change finally went through and I received scheduling permits from ECFMG and NBME, the only date available* in May for CS was the 27th.
I’ve been sort of stalking the CS scheduling website to see if anything would open up earlier in May. No luck. So, I’ve decided to stick with the 27th and push CK back into June.
When I logged into the Prometric website to see what’s available here in OKC for CK (too many acronyms for one post?? hah.), my choice was basically the first or last week of June. I’m sure you can follow my panicky logic here and see how I’m scheduled for the 25th.
Wanting to take a few months off after the baby comes and still finish on time for the 2011 Match, means I can’t really take time off before Step 2. So, I will be finishing up the last of my core rotations (Peds and Psyc – 6 weeks each) after Surgery until July 2nd. I’m also hoping to get a couple of electives done over the summer too. That would leave me with just 4 electives (4 weeks each) to finish before May 2011 and hopefully lots of time for baby.
See? It’s a house of cards plan. Ready to fall over any minute!
May 27th: USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills
I fly down to Houston, stay overnight in a hotel room and spend the following day interviewing and performing physicals on 12 “patients.”
June 25th: USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge
I drive up to the north side of the city and sit for 9 hours in a Prometric testing centre not unlike the one in Saskatoon where I took Step 1.

You will do amazing just as you have through all your schooling. I think you are for certain the smartest person that I know and if anyone can pull this off it is you!!
