Playing house

[Originally written sometime last month...]
Our baby furniture has arrived and is now officially assembled and installed! I think I mentioned before that Brandon’s parents sent us money for the crib and changing table. He has also been saving money so we can buy another bed (for us! and Suh!) and move our current bed, turning The Office into a full-on Guest Bedroom. Because we have real live guests coming after the baby is born! I’m so excited!
Brandon’s mom* will be here for the last two weeks of September. Tina and Kevin and their new little boy are coming for a week in mid-October. And then it’s my mom’s turn to visit! As we slowly move furniture from the office into the dining room, we’re realizing a house this size won’t last us much longer. Even if we end up staying in Oklahoma City for residency, I think we will have to up-size.

When we first moved in, our full-size dining room in between the kitchen and living room was very rarely used. We inherited a table and chairs from Brandon’s parents, but pretty much only the dogs ate in there. Suh’s kennel is in there, so I guess we’re sort of invading her bedroom as Brandon moved his desk alongside her kennel and we relocated the bookshelf into another corner. We still only eat at the table when we have company, but it’s getting a lot more love.

My desk is much smaller than Brandon’s and has been moved from The Office into a nook in the living room.
I am looking forward to eventually ending up in a house where the toilet doesn’t run constantly and our living room can fit more furniture than a loveseat, but this little place has really become home in the last year.

*UPDATE: The baby came early and so is she! Grandma and Grandpa should arrive sometime today for the long weekend.
