“Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We’re the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way”

~ Willie Nelson

have i mentioned that Brandon’s dad is a truck driver too?

i love it when they send us pictures from the road on their phones. new-fangled technology is so coool.

this post and these photos are dedicated to the roadtrip genes we obviously inherited paternally and the gods of good gas prices as we hit the highway again tonight.

if cleaning up cement with a giant vacuum isn’t a dirty job, i don’t know what is. this is where my dad hung out last weekend. 45 hours of fun!

speaking of my dad, i’ve had a few emails from people lately asking if i’m related to “so-and-so” based on the origin of my last name. it’s piqued a little personal curiosity in my relatively unknown family history. my dad is not close with his dad and i think i may have met him only once or twice when i was too young to remember, before he and my grandmother divorced.

here is my starting point: we know we are related to the John Hawke that settled Hawke’s Village (now Hawkesville) in southern Ontario in 1846. from there, we somehow ended up in Saskatchewan and my grandfather has since relocated to beautiful British Columbia.

i am getting swallowed whole by the rest of the genealogy confusion available online.
