Brandon brought Maddy home on Friday. The small wooden box on the mantle holds her ashes The rotating photo box holds a few of my favourite snapshots as well as her dog tags, collar and well-loved frisbee.

In many ways I still feel like I’m in shock. Like life has been too busy to allow me time to properly grieve and say goodbye.

But I’m glad that she’s finally home again. And even though I know she’s not really HERE here…

I know she never really left.
