Days go slow. Years go fast.

Writing several times a week for over 10 years takes its toll.

I needed a break.

After moving to New Orleans and back I was so physically and emotionally spent by the previous 6 months that my brain couldn’t even imagine coming up with a topic to write about. Let alone the time or energy to do so.

And so I took a break.

It wasn’t even conscious. It just sort of happened. One day I looked back and realized it had been an entire week since I wrote a blog post. I didn’t miss it. Another day I realized it had been an entire month. Then two. Twitter sort of took over as a form of micro-blogging. If a thought needed more than 140 characters, it was too exhausting to think.

But recently I re-read a few of my blog entries and thought, “Hey. I’m a good writer. I need to do this more often.”

And I am a good writer. And I do like the record this little website has made of some parts of my life for me to re-view and re-read and re-live. I am currently working on exporting the four years I wrote during medical school into paper format for printing. According to most publishing sites, the entire journey is too large to be bound in a single book and I will have to divide it up into four separate volumes:

2007: Med School Begins
2008: Falling in Love
2009: Going to the Chapel
2010: From Mama to MD

Those are working titles. I’ll let you know how the project shapes up as I make a little money to fund it.

In short, a lot has happened in the last four years. I can only imagine what the next four will hold.

And if I’m not writing it down, who will?
