Or Get Off the Pot

Every year an inevitable re-evaluation of this site and my purpose generally occurs around the same time. October is this little blog’s birthday month and in 2011, we turn 11!*

I recently paid to renew jenniferhawke.com and since that day, I’ve wonered why I spent the money and how I can actually make good on my desire to write more.

In short, it’s about time for me to give a crap about this site or get off the pot.

But how?

I have discovered that just saying I want to write more doesn’t magically make it happen. Imagine that.

Obstacles to overcome:
- hospital and clinic work hours
- home work hours updating electronic medical records
- online writing assignments for side job
- inability to spend time on computer at home while little one is awake
- lack of desire to spend time on computer when husband is home
- increasing aversion to computer time in general
- overwhelming urge to write long posts updating you on Everything At Once

Once again, I am tapping this post on my phone. Creighton is happily amusing himself with a choking hazard, but if I was in front of the big screen, he would be all up in my lap wanting to watch movies of himself. It would seem posts from my phone are the way of the future.

I also think shorter is better. Twitter really nailed it by limiting us to 148 characters. I am going to reason that if I can find time to tweet, I can find time to blog.

So, I’m setting myself a 30-day challenge to share a mini post every day for the next month. With photo.

Tonight, I switch to a month of delivering babies at night. Friday is the start of a week off for Brandon’s birthday and a trip to Nebraska to see family and go to the Ohio State game.

I’m definitely not lacking things to write about. So, I’ll see you tomorrow.
